Get started with watercolours with this free abstract watercolour painting tutorial for beginners.

Sometimes it is easier to learn when you can see how it is done. As a designer and illustrator I learn new things everyday and I love exploring new techniques, especially using different materials. What I am drawn to about Micador for Artists watercolours is their vibrancy and ink-like intensity, which I especially love when painting fruits! So much colour!

In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a super fun and colourful fruit pattern using the Brilliant Watercolour Spring Disc. You will also become familiar with watercolour techniques and quickly learn how to use the 6 colours on the Spring Disc, and in the process, mix a few of those colours to create more. All of that under 10 minutes! Are you ready? Click on the Video link below and have fun!

Download the Spring Fruit line art PDF template here before you begin, or simply draw your own fruit from reference.

TIPS:

Don't forget to test out the paint and create some colour swatches (on copy paper) to make sure you know which colours to use before applying them onto your watercolour paper.

Also use different size brushes to create those thick and thin lines.
